The Grand Ho Tram Breaks Ground On USD1 Billion Mega Expansion Plans, Strengthening Its Position As A Leading International Integrated-resort Destination

The Grand Ho Tram officially held the groundbreaking ceremony of its expansive new 35-hectare development phase today, marking a significant strategic milestone in its mission to establish a world-class integrated tourism destination in Vietnam. This event not only underscores the long-term investment commitment of Warburg Pincus—one of the largest and most prominent private equity firms in the United States—but also symbolizes the enduring partnership between Vietnam and the United States, particularly in economic development and tourism cooperation.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Nguyễn Văn Nên – Member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Phạm Viết Thanh – Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee; Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Yến – Deputy Secretary of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thọ – Chairman of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau People’s Committee; representatives from Binh Duong Province; Mr. Stuart Haine – Development Director of Warburg Pincus; Mr. Don Lam – CEO and Co-Founder of VinaCapital; Mr. Christopher Hur – CEO of Lodgis Hospitality Holdings & Chairman of The Grand Ho Tram; Mr. Walt Power – CEO of The Grand Ho Tram, along with various government agencies, business leaders, and strategic partners.

This new 35-hectare development, with an investment of over USD 1 billion, will feature five-star hotels, luxury resort villas, entertainment amenities, a casino, and an international convention and exhibition center. As an integral part of The Grand Ho Tram’s master plan, this development will increase the project’s total investment to over USD 4 billion and expand its capacity to 9,000 rooms, positioning it as one of Southeast Asia’s leading integrated resort destinations.

The project will also introduce a comprehensive wellness and medical spa center, a multi-sport and entertainment complex, a family amusement park, and MICE-compliant facilities (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). The Grand Ho Tram continues to solidify its status as a regional leader in luxury hospitality with its “One Destination – A Million Experiences” ecosystem, home to globally recognized amenities such as The Bluffs – a world-renowned golf course, the only Las Vegas-style casino in Southern Vietnam, and top-tier hotel brands including InterContinental Grand Ho Tram, Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach, and Ixora Ho Tram by Fusion.

With its prime location and exceptional growth potential, Ho Tram is rapidly emerging as a premier destination for both domestic and international travelers. Situated just 50 kilometers from Long Thanh International Airport and 120 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City’s financial center, the area is supported by a modern, continuously expanding infrastructure network. Key expressway projects such as Bien Hoa – Vung Tau and Ben Luc – Long Thanh, along with improved access to international ports and airports, significantly reduce travel time and support a projected annual influx of 100 million international visitors, in addition to strong domestic tourism. Of special note, the upcoming Ho Tram – Long Thanh International Airport expressway, recently prioritized for accelerated development by the Prime Minister under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, is expected to begin construction on September 2, 2025. This vital infrastructure project is poised to significantly boost tourism not only in Ho Tram but across the surrounding region. Furthermore, long-term development will benefit from macro-level government strategies, as Ba Ria – Vung Tau is slated for integration into Ho Chi Minh City’s metropolitan area, transforming it into a major tourism and economic hub and creating a powerful new growth engine for the region and the nation.

The Grand Ho Tram is owned by Lodgis Hospitality Holdings—a joint venture between Warburg Pincus, a leading global private equity firm in the U.S. with over USD 116 billion in assets under management, and VinaCapital, a leading multi-sector investment group in Vietnam managing nearly USD 4 billion in assets with a strong presence across Asia. The launch of this new development phase reflects a shared strategic vision and a commitment to sustainable growth through collaboration between international and domestic investors, supported by the Government of Vietnam. The project is expected to play a pivotal role in elevating Vietnam’s tourism industry, advancing its position as a key economic driver. By 2030, tourism is projected to contribute 15–17% of the country’s GDP, establishing Vietnam as a premier destination in Asia and beyond.
